The Tsuen Family
The Tsuen family rooted itself long ago in the lowlands of Sānhuì Wāndì, where seasonal floods and shifting waterways shaped daily life. Living among the wetlands through the use of punt boats, elevated homes, and with a deep familiarity of the land's mercurial and ever changing rhythms, generations of Tsuen learned patience from the heron, harmony from the bee, and resilience from the reed.
Reed Verse
The family maintains a deep spiritual connection to the
surrounding lowlands, a tradition that gave rise to a regional style of
poetry known as Reed Verse. Used to soothe and honor local nature
spirits, Reed Verse consists of three seven-syllable lines that draw
wisdom from the natural world. Through observation, change, and
reflection, its verses are intended to capture the quiet lessons found among the
wetlands and floodwaters of the Tsuen family home.
Grey wings shelter still waters.
Gold gathers sweetness from bloom.
Green bends beneath storm and sun.

Gold gathers sweetness from bloom.
Green bends beneath storm and sun.
